Where To Use Non Slip Traction Tape?

Traction tape or anti slip tape is a product that can be used when there is too little friction between two surfaces such as your foot wear and the floor. Based on the floor surface and the type of shoe that is worn this can determine the amount of traction you will have. Traction tapes coefficient of friction will vary from product to product. This type of product is used in homes and in work place environments with some common uses on stairs, steps, pool areas, bath tubs, riding lawn mowers, boats and many others.

Example 1: Your stairs at home are a very nice oak wood surface with a polyurethane finish. These types of steps are a very nice feature in homes but can be a very slick surface and slips and falls can occur even when wearing shoes.

Solution

• · Apply some type of stair tread covering. These coverings are usually a carpet type of product which do work but can diminish the appearance of your nice wood stairs by covering up most of the surface and now the aesthetic look has been changed.
• · Apply a clear rubberized anti slip tape not only can you help prevent slips and falls with its non-slip capabilities but also help keep the nice look of your wood stairs. Clear non slip tapes will have a texture surface that helps create the slip prevention part. When this tape is applied it will have a more transparent look to it. The transparency will depend upon the brand/manufacturer.
• Apply a colored anti slip tape such as beige to match you wood stair case. Image above shows the beige tape applied to a finished wood surface.

Example 2: Your bath tub surface is smooth and very slippery and the suction cup mat just won’t stay in place.

Solution

• · Apply non slip strips which are usually available at most hardware stores. These do work but only provide a small amount of coverage.
• · Apply a self-adhesive non slip bath mat. Not only will this give you the most coverage for your bath tub the adhesive will help keep the mat in place.
